Spacex Capsules returns NASA astronauts after nine months on board ISS

Tuesday evening, Dragon Freedom Spacex capsule skipped in the Gulf of Mexico, bringing the Astronauts Barry “Butch” Wilmore and Sunita “Suni” Williams after the two spent 286 days in the space aboard the International Space Station.

The two were reached by the astronaut of Nasa Nick Hague and Russian Cosmonout Aleksandr Gorbunov, who were also aboard the ISS during the stay of Wilmore and Williams.

The space vehicle returned to Earth at the time of EDT’s scheduled Splashdown at 5:57 pm and the NASA teams aboard the Megan recovery ship started the recovery process shortly after.

Wilmore and Williams were left aboard the ISS for a long stay after their Boeing Starliner space vehicle has found losses of helium and malfunctioning of the engines during a week’s trial flight for last year’s station.

In September, the unjustified Starriner returned to Earth autonomously while the two astronauts were left on the station.

Following Splashdown, the four space explorers were recorded videos in what was described as “a capsule full of smiles” during the live streaming of NASA’s recovery.

All four astronauts were safely extracted from the capsule and transported to the medical structures of the recovery ship for the exam.

NASA declared during its live streaming that the astronauts will be transported by helicopter to Riva in Tallahassee, Florida, then transferred to a plane to fly home in Houston.
