June 28, 2011: Kerberos is discovered

Takeaway Keyway:

On June 28, 2011, Pluto’s Moon Kerberos was discovered by a team that uses the Hubble space telescope, led by the senior researcher Mark Showalter. While the main objective of the observation program was to identify both the potential objectives and the potential dangers for the next New Horizons mission, Kerberos and his Luna companions were also identified during the investigation. Kerberos-Originarily indicated as S/2011 (134340) 1 and subsequently named after the three-headed dog of Greek mythology-it-overlooked mythology in previous photos due to shorter exposure times. The scientists theorized that Kerberos was great and dark, based on his weakness and gravitational influence. However, the images of New Horizons taken on July 14, 2015 revealed a reflective moon, more decreased than expected, which was probably covered with water ice. The data also showed that Kerberos has a double struggle form, suggesting that it was formed when two smaller objects joined.
