Eugene Parker, Pioneer of Theoretical Solar and Plasma Astrophysics, Was Born June 10, 1927 Theory was confirmed by Mariner II in 1962 In 2017, NASA renamed her Plus solar probe as Parker solar probe in her honor, the first instance of a NASA spatial mission takes its name from a living individual. Parker died five years later, in 2022.
