Deep sky dreams: Open Cluster NGC 225

If you have time and the transparent sky in the north, you may want to control an open cluster that is rarely observed. An open cluster “Medio Joe” in Cassiopeia, however, appears quite bright and has an almost circular model of stars.

This is NGC 225, sometimes called sailing cluster, or more recently the Halloween cat for a group of stars inside the cluster.

NGC 225 is a relatively young cluster at about 150 million years and is about 2,200 light years away.

Its total size is quite bright to make it visible in the binoculars, at 7.0. The cluster spreads over 12 ‘, about a third the diameter of the full moon.

Other interesting features are intertwined with the same low -power visual field. A weak nebula of reflection, Van Den Bergh 4, is associated with the cluster. Nearby there is a prominent nebula, LDN 1302.
